The Story Behind This Iconic Wrecking Crew Photo

This historic photograph captures the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Wrecking Crew during the January 1920 M&ATA National Championship races at Los Angeles’ old Ascot Park — a defining moment in early American motorcycle racing.

Seen left to right are four of the era’s most influential racers: Freddie Ludlow, Ralph Hepburn, Albert “Shrimp” Burns, and Otto Walker. These men dominated post-WWI racing circuits, helping propel Harley-Davidson into national fame and shaping the fierce competitive spirit the brand is known for today.

One particularly fascinating detail is the appearance of “Shrimp” Burns—seen posing in full leathers—just days after he left the Harley team to sign with rival Indian. This rare moment reflects the deep camaraderie shared among early racers, even when loyalties shifted and rivalries ran high.

Our Manufacturing Process

All of our signs are made to order and usually ship out in 10-14 business days. Orders are susceptible to shorter or longer lead times. Unfortunately we can't ever guarantee a dlivery date so please be sure to order in advance.

The signs are made from high quality, heavy guage American Steel. The metal is first powder coated then the designs are baked into the powder coating using our industrial heat presses. This proceess gives the signs a durable, paint job like finish. Our products are made to last unlike the flimly tin signs you get from Amazon and other shops.

Wood Frames: Many of our signs have the option to come mounted on a barn wood style frame with rustic screws. These frames are very unique becuase every frame is different and has unique knots, grain, cracks and small imperfections that give it that barn look. Our customer love the wood frames to go with their rustic or industrial home decor.
